Dragon Ball is Akira Toriyama’s action epic — spanning four different anime series and made famous for its memorable characters and over-the-top martial arts action. With hundreds of moves, battles, and styles to choose from, getting to know the Dragon Ball series can be a daunting task. So we’ll start with the most iconic move in the series: the Kamehameha. Here’s what you need to know about the different versions of this iconic move that you can pull off in the mobile game Dragon Ball Z: Dokkan Battle!
Kamehameha is the first special move featured in the the Dragon Ball series. While never specifically addressed in the series, the Kamehameha “energy wave” is rumored to be named for three reasons:
- In honor of the famous Hawaiian king
- It coincidentally means “turtle destroyer wave” in Japanese
- It’s just fun to say!
To use a Kamehameha, the fighter channels their “life energy” (or ki) with two hands, then releases it in a devastating wave of energy. This base attack is powerful enough for a normal human to accidentally destroy a mountain, yet simple enough for an untrained child to accidentally destroy a car. If you think that’s powerful, just wait — the other variations of Kamehameha gets way stronger from here.
The Super Kamehameha is one level up from there. When Goku (or other elite fighters) become the blonde-hair, blue-eyed, “Super Saiyan” version of themselves, the base attack of Kamehameha also go up a level to become Super Kamehameha, along with the beam so powerful it can potentially destroy the planet.

The Big Bang half of this attack belongs to Vegeta, the arrogant, Saiyan prince. Although from a different fighting style, the Big Bang is roughly equivalent to the Kamehameha, except the energy wave is smaller, spherical, and can be performed one-handed — like a boss.
But as the anime go on, there came a time where Goku and Vegeta fused, quite literally, to fight off their common enemy, and so did Vegeta’s signature Big Bang Attack and Goku’s Kamehameha energy wave into... “Big Bang Kamehameha”!
This resulting fusion is hundreds of times more powerful than the sum of its parts. The oversized, two-handed Big Bang Attack explodes into a Kamehameha, able to erase planetary clusters with ease.

Before Goku could turn into various levels of Super Saiyan, he could originally turn into a Giant Ape when he still had his tail in the original Dragon Ball Series. His Giant Ape form would wreck havoc many times over, so this Super Saiyan 4 features all his gorilla power in the size of a human — as a “condensed ape.” Yep, you read that right.
All that animal-power canned under pressure gives SS4 Goku quasi god-like abilities — enough to create an energy sphere in each hand and combine them into a 10x Kamehameha. This one’s red, for killing Shadow Dragons (kinda like gods).

We’ve only seen “god-like” so far. that is until now: introducing Fused Zamasu.
The Fused Zamasu is the fusion of the two gods from two different timelines. Even for Dragon Ball, this is pretty outlandish. He’s so powerful that his fireballs are actually fire colored.
As Fused Zamasu mutates, his plan eventually falls apart. His appearance became half purple/black, half green/white, features a mutated arm, a halo (briefly), and red-black energy blades that explode. And his most powerful move is the True Test of a God.

It all begins with Super Saiyan Blue Vegito (fusion of Goku and Vegeta). This combined form’s punches alone can shake the universe! Vegito combines Vegeta’s Final Flash with Goku’s Super Kamehameha. Then he dials them to max levels to create a blue and gold energy wave of unparalleled force. It’s the most powerful Kamehameha we’ve seen to date.
