Shirtless Mario Modded into Super Smash Bros. for Wii U

Mario's beach bod gets a neat mod.

A skin mod emulating the now-famous image of Mario in boxer shorts from Super Mario Odyssey has already made its way to Super Smash Bros. for Wii U.

"Shirtless Mario!" from SmashingRenders outfits the Italian mascot in beach-ready leisure wear. Mario keeps his famous cap but loses his overalls, trading them for a pair of spotty shorts.

This isn't the first occasion where famous characters have been modded into Super Smash Bros. for Wii U. Past additions include Mimikyu from Pokemon Sun & Moon as well as Sora from Kingdom Hearts.

On top of showcasing Mario's nipples to the world, last week's Nintendo Direct also revealed a Super Mario Odyssey Nintendo Switch bundle complete with red Joy-Cons and cap.

The game, coming October 27 is the first Mario title to receive a rating higher than 'Everyone' by the ESRB, so Mario's beach bod might not be the only surprise waiting for fans.

Nintendo recently revealed that Mario is no longer a plumber and is therefore unemployed, which could explain the vacation gear. Maybe he's just enjoying his retirement after 36 years of manual labour?
