The Walking Dead Season 8 Premiere Lowest-Rated Since S3

Death by a few million viewers.

The Walking Dead's 100th episode is the zombie drama's lowest-rated season premiere since 2012's Season 3, and the third-lowest in the series' history.

Nielsen ratings (as reported by Variety) for Sunday night's episode put the total viewers at 11.4 million. By comparison, last season's opener hit 17.03 million.

Only Seasons 1 and 2 had lower-rated premiere episodes - although it's worth pointing out that Season 8 did not start by resolving a cliffhanger, as other seasons have.

These are still strong numbers when compared to the rest of the industry, but its a steep drop for a show that's gained viewers with each season, by and large.

We've been a little divided over the latest episode - our 7.3 review called it "a good set-up episode, but because we were only given the initial stages of this conflict, the stakes fell a bit flat." Some of our other editors were less taken, calling it an all-out bore.

Were you among the 11 million? Here's every Easter Egg we spotted in the episode.
