PUBG Dev: "In Talks" About a PlayStation 4 Version

Another battleground on the horizon?

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds has technically not even entered into full release yet - it's still part of Steam's early-access program - but its success cannot be denied, with huge sales numbers and record-breaking concurrent player counts.

As such, its expansion was almost inevitable; it has previously been announced for Xbox One following its release for Windows, and now it looks as though we could be adding PlayStation 4 to the number of platforms supported by the game.

As reported by Bloomberg, Chang Byung-gyu - founder of Bluehole Inc, who publishes PUBG - "has had talks with all of the major console companies", specifically highlighting that Bluehole is currently "in talks with Sony" about introducing a version for PlayStation following the PC and Xbox releases.

It's important to highlight that these are "talks" and nothing may come of them, but considering PUBG's undoubted success over the last few months it's hard to imagine that Sony wouldn't be keen to bring the game to PlayStation. In any case, both the other releases will come first, so PlayStation gamers may need to exercise some patience.

It's interesting that the quote directly says that Bluehole is in talks with "all" the major console companies - nothing has been confirmed one way or another, but it's certainly possible that there has been interest from Nintendo; we'll just have to wait and see if that goes anywhere.

Bluehole recently formed a subsidiary, PUBG Corp, which will focus solely on the development of Battlegrounds moving forward. It remains to be seen what else they have planned for the game - but right now, the future certainly seems bright.
