Hellboy Reboot Release Date Confirmed

David Harbour previously revealed a first look at the new Hellboy.

Lionsgate's new take on Hellboy finally has a release date.

IGN can confirm the Hellboy reboot starring Stranger Things' David Harbour will be released in theaters on January 11, 2019. Currently the synopsis of the film is that Hellboy will battle an ancient sorceress seeking revenge while he's caught between both the worlds of man and the supernatural.

In addition to Harbour in the lead role, the film also stars Resident Evil's Milla Jovovich as the film's villain and Ian McShane as Professor Broom, as well as Daniel Dae Kim, who recently took over the role of Major Ben Daimio following Deadpool star Ed Skrein's announcement that he would leave the role. Skrein departed the project following controversy and upon the actor learning of the character being am Asian-American.

Neil Marshall, who has helmed episodes of Game of Thrones and Westworld, will direct the movie with a script by Hellboy creator Mike Mignola, Andrew Cosby, and Christopher Golden.

Mignola announced the reboot earlier this year, which comes after two films directed by The Shape of Water's Guillermo del Toro with Ron Perlman in the lead role.

For more on the R-rated reboot, which, according to Harbour will be "more of a character piece," take a look at these 9 things we want to see in the new Hellboy movie.
