At least for now, Twin Peaks' lead actor has heard nothing about another series of the beloved show.
In the aftermath of Twin Peaks' dark, disturbing finale - which we loved - many fans have been left scratching their heads and wondering what's next for the series. With many questions left unanswered, and even some new questions posed, there still seems to be a lot of processing to be done - and that's also true of the show's stars, at least in the case of Kyle MacLachlan.
In an interview with Deadline, MacLachlan says that he is "very moved" by the finale, and that even he is "not even sure" where he stands on it, other than describing it as "incredibly powerful".
That being said, it seems that fans of the show shouldn't hold their breath for more to come; MacLachlan states categorically that there are currently no discussions for any more Twin Peaks.
That lines up with the Showtime CEO's assessment, who recently said a new series was unlikely.
That doesn't necessarily mean it's curtains for the show, of course. Showtime has said it's waiting for David Lynch's assessment, and anything's possible for a series that returned to our screens 26 years after its last outing.
Knowing Twin Peaks fans, though, there will be enough discussion in the coming weeks and months to keep everyone busy until the moment when - and if - the series returns.
