One of 2017's Best-Selling Games Came Out in 2013

The NPD Group tracks total sales by dollar amount.

The NPD Group, known for releasing sales figures on software and hardware each month, also has a section of its release dedicated to the top games across all platforms for the year so far.

Ubisoft sits at the top of the 2017 sales so far with Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Wildlands and For Honor in second.  Breath of the Wild is 2017's third-best selling game, without digital downloads factoring in to its place on the list.

Sitting firmly at spot number 7 is Grand Theft Auto V, which originally released for PS3 and Xbox 360 all the way back in September 2013. At Take-Two's investor call back in February, the company revealed it had sold-in 75 million copies of GTA 5 over the game's lifespan.

Here's a look at the complete list of top-selling games so far:

  • Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Wildlands
  • For Honor
  • The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
  • Horizon Zero Dawn
  • Mass Effect: Andromeda
  • Resident Evil 7: Biohazard
  • Grand Theft Auto V
  • NBA 2K17
  • Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare
  • MLB 17: The Show

The rankings are based on dollar amounts, not units sold.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Persona 5 were the top selling games of April 2017 according to the monthly sales figures released by NPD. Nintendo Switch once again took the top-selling console spot for the second month in a row.
