Bungie's sequel Destiny 2 will be released for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on September 8. Bringing Guardians back to the Activision franchise after its initial release in 2014, Destiny 2 will introduce new worlds, gameplay modes, and a brand new campaign.
Since its reveal in March 2017, Bungie has provided a first look at campaign and multiplayer gameplay, special editions, and much more.

During a May livestream event, Bungie showcased the first ever Destiny 2 gameplay, including an extended look at the story mission, "Homecoming."

After a few teasesofficially announcing the game, Bungie and Activision finally confirmed Destiny 2 with a debut trailer. Plenty of other information came out that day, including:

Ahead of officially confirming Destiny 2, Activision and Bungie acknowledged the upcoming sequel without providing too many specifics.
Ahead of announcement, Bungie revealed what would and wouldn't transfer over from the original Destiny to the sequel, even addressing fans concerns about the specifics of what would carry over to Destiny 2.
And throughout 2016, Bungie and Activision periodically offered updates about Destiny 2's progress, first saying it would come in 2017, then revealing that a majority of the team at Bungie was working on Destiny 2, and then finally confirming the sequel was still on track for a 2017 release after relatively little other information being revealed.
