Dark Days: The Casting #1 - $4.99

STL049949

By writers Scott Snyder & James Tynion IV & artists Andy Kubert & John Romita Jr. | DC

The next big step in the road to Dark Nights: Metal is here. This one-shot issue picks up where Dark Days: The Forge left off last month, as Batman slowly comes to grips with the vast, millennia-long mystery before him. He'll need some help getting to the bottom of this one. Good thing he has a team that includes Hal Jordan, Duke Thomas and... Joker?

As much as we're eager to learn more about the massive threat looming ahead, we're even more curious to learn about why Joker has been locked away beneath the Batcave and what role the Clown Prince of Crime has to play in this story. The Forge was a terrific start to DC's new Batman event, and we have no doubt that The Casting will keep the momentum going.

Mage: The Hero Denied #0 - $1.99

STL050660

By writer/artist Matt Wagner | Image

Mage fans are certainly familiar with the waiting game. Matt Wagner's beloved creator-owned series (basically a modern-day take on the King Arthur mythos) has been on hiatus ever since Mage: The Hero Defined wrapped up in in 1999. The good news is that Wagner is finally ready to chronicle the third and final act of this fantasy saga. Even better, he's starting with a new interlude issue that also serves as a primer for newcomers. Whether you've been waiting 18 years or have yet to experience the saga of Kevin Matchstick, this issue will serve as the primer you need.

Star Wars: Darth Vader #3 - $3.99

STL050031

By writer Charles Soule & artist Giuseppe Camuncoli | Marvel

The story of how Darth Vader acquired his signature red lightsaber is far more complicated than we ever would have expected. That mission continues to form the crux of Charles Soule and Giuseppe Camuncoli's first story arc. As previous issues have established, the only true way for a Sith Lord to construct a lightsaber is to claim one from a fallen Jedi Knight and corrupt its crystal. And Vader's target happens to be one of the most skilled swordsman who ever lived, an exiled Jedi Master named Kirka Infil'a. We're looking forward to a truly epic battle in this issue, as the newly minted Dark Lord of the Sith faces his first true test.

Wonder Woman #26 - $2.99

STL049939

By writer Shea Fontana & artist Mirka Andolfo | DC

We're sorry to see Greg Rucka, Liam Sharp and Bilquis Evely bid farewell to Wonder Woman (though at least Rucka seems to have parted on much better terms with DC this time around). Luckily, DC still has big plans for Diana of Themyscira in 2017. This issue welcomes a new creative team in the form of writer Shea Fontana and artist Mirka Andolfo (who have previously collaborated on the DC Super Hero Girls graphic novels). Unsurprisingly, the new team push the series in a different direction, but one that still builds on the rock solid foundation Rucka and his artists established.
