The Simpsons will get another DVD release after all.
Twentieth Century Fox announced at Comic-Con that Season 18 of The Simpsons will come out December 5 on DVD. It's a surprising turnaround for the series, after showrunner Al Jean previously said in 2015 that no more Simpsons DVDs would be released because of a dying market.
The Simpsons: Season 18 DVD release also serves as a notable addition for completists. Seasons 18 and 19 have never come out on physical media, while Season 20 only arrived on Blu-ray.
Jean told EW that he hopes strong sales will lead to DVDs for the other missing seasons.
As for the upcoming DVD, the set will offer a bonus episode — with cover star Fat Tony —called "22 For 30" from Season 28. The other bonus features include audio commentary and deleted scenes with commentary.
The Simpsons will return for its 29th season later this year. And the animated show has already been renewed through Season 30.
