Nintendo Switch has now sold 4.7 million units since its release in March.
Revealed as part of Nintendo's latest earning results, the last fiscal quarter saw Switch sell 1.97 million units, continuing its strong start in the market.
In terms of software, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe has sold 3.54 million units following its release in April, meaning approximately three quarters of Switch owners also own Mario Kart.
Arms, Nintendo's newest IP, also sold 1.18 million units in the two weeks between its release on June 18 and the end of this quarter, June 30.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild continues to sell well, too - with 1.16 million sales bringing it up to 3.92 million units sold overall (meaning around 83% of Switch owners also own Zelda).
In terms of its other offerings, 3DS sold almost a million units this quarter, and 5.85 million units of software (a 31% decrease on last year). Amiibo sold 1.6 million figurines and 1.3 million card packs. Downloadable games across all Nintendo platforms made ¥11 billion ($98 million USD / £76 million).
All of that translates into good news for Nintendo's finances. Primarily because of Switch hardware and software sales, Nintendo took ¥154 billion (approximately $1.4 billion USD / £1 billion) in revenue, and made a ¥21.3 billion ($190 million USD / £146 million) profit. That's a 149% increase in revenue compared to the same time last year.
There's more to come from Switch - Splatoon 2 was released just outside of this quarter, Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle and Super Mario Odyssey are all scheduled for this year, and Nintendo's slowly rolling out its online offering. We're hoping for more announcements at Gamescom or Tokyo Game Show.
