Quentin Tarantino to Take on Manson Murders in New Film

The project will be noteworthy for Tarantino as his first film based on true events.

Quentin Tarantino is prepping a new film that will focus on the infamous Manson murders, according to a new report.

Sources close to THR say that Tarantino will write and direct the historical film, and regular collaborators Harvey and Bob Weinstein are also involved.

THR reports that the project is currently being shopped to studios for co-financing, with the aim to start production in 2018. Brad Pitt and Jennifer Lawrence have reportedly been approached to be involved in the film.

The film will be most likely anchored by the 1971 murder spree conducted by four members of the Manson Family, a cult led by Charles Manson. The murders took place in the home of actress Sharon Tate, who was killed at eight months pregnant, alongside four others. Manson and other members of his 'family' were sentenced to life imprisonment the same year.

The project will be noteworthy for Tarantino as his first film based on true events.
