Persona Director's New Project Seemingly a PS4 Game

Project Re Fantasy, the next title from Persona director Katsura Hashino's newly formed development team Studio Zero, could very well be a PS4 game, if a job listing is any indication.

The listing, which can be found on Japanese careers site Levtech Creators (translation via Gematsu), is for "the production of character motions in a newly in-development PlayStation 4 game."

While it doesn't specifically mention Studio Zero, Project Re Fantasy or Atlus, the job coordinator notes the hiring company has a popular series with one entry that has sold over 1.5 million units. Since its launch in the west this past April, Persona 5 has sold incredibly well, with sales surpassing 1.5 million earlier this year.

It's also worth noting that the listing states the game is a "traditional RPG," which echoes what Atlus said about the title previously. When the company revealed Project Re Fantasy this past December, it said the game was "is in the earliest of stages of development" and strives to be "a return to the roots of where the Japanese games industry began with fantasy role-playing games."

That said, it must be emphasized that this job listing is not confirmation that Project Re Fantasy is a PS4 game, as Atlus has yet to officially announce what platforms the game is in development for.

IGN had the opportunity to speak with Hashino about Studio Zero's first game and his aspirations for Project Re Fantasy, which, as the title suggests, will have a fantasy setting. "My hope is that we can, for example, look at what Tolkien achieved [in his novels] and redefine it as a very small game studio," he said. "Because we have never made a fantasy game before and we are starting from zero as true amateurs, we feel we can build a world of illusion that takes the kind of societal issues we use in Shin Megami Tensei or Persona games, make them entertaining to play and find new success."
