Some of the biggest news at San Diego Comic-Con was the first details about the upcoming Captain Marvel movie. Not only will the film be set in the '90s and feature Nick Fury complete with two good eyes, it also will mark the introduction of the Skrulls into the MCU.
"Captain Marvel will be our 21st film in the cinematic universe, and we've never seen the Skrulls. How come?" Kevin Feige told IGN following the panel. Answering his own question, he continued, "We thought it would be fun. There's an entire section of our comics that deal with the Kree/Skrull war, and we haven't tapped into that at all, and we thought that would be an amazing, huge part of the mythology to belong to Captain Marvel."

Feige stayed mum on most of the other big questions we have about the upcoming movie beyond going back to the defacto reasoning he has for a lot of the MCU decision making: it's fun.
"We thought [the '90s] would be a fun time period to make a film in, he said, adding of Nick Fury's inclusion, "We thought it would be fun [to have Nick Fury back]. We love Sam, we love that character, it would be fun to see what he was like in his earlier days."
