Wonder Woman Co-Writer to Pen Robotech Movie

No word yet on a release date.

Sony has reportedly brought in Wonder Woman scribe Jason Fuchs to work on the live-action Robotech movie.

Deadline reports Fuchs, a co-writer on Wonder Woman alongside Allan Heinberg and Zack Snyder, will be teaming up with IT director Andrés Muschietti on the remake. The filmmaker officially signed on to helm Robotech back in July.

Fuchs and Muschietti will reportedly work together to create the movie from scratch. However, there's no word yet on a release date for Robotech and if this project will impact Muschietti's involvement with the IT sequel in any way, which is already reportedly in development.

Barbara Muschietti, Andrés Muschietti's sibling and creative partner, will produce the movie along with 300 producers Mark Canton and Gianni Nunnari. The producers behind the original series, Frank and Jehan Agrama, are also involved with the project.

Robotech follows mankind's fight against an alien invasion by using giant robots. The original 85-episode anime series aired in the United States in 1985. Since then, the sci-fi franchise has had several film, book and video game adaptations.

Sony picked up the rights for Robotech in 2015, when it was rumored Aquaman director James Wan was Sony's top choice to helm the project.
