Marvel Comics is teasing an upcoming roster change for in All-New Guardians of the Galaxy. The team will soon be joined by a former Avenger as the series gears up for the Marvel Legacy relaunch.
Marvel isn't revealing which hero is joining the team in October's All-New Guardians of the Galaxy #12, but this cover shows several potential candidates - Deadpool, Doctor Strange, Cable and Man-Thing:
Marvel's press release teases "Who exactly is this Avenger? One of the five Marvel superstars on this cover should give you a hint…" At first glance, it appears that the cover only features four Avengers, but if you zoom in on the image you'll notice a tiny figure standing on Man-Thing's shoulder. Is this a clue that Ant-Man is becoming a Guardian of the Galaxy?
“We’re excited to have an Avenger joining the ranks of the Guardians… or is it the Nova Corps? Or both? Oh, you’ll see,” said editor Jordan D. White. “Just know, he beat out some stiff competition, as you can tell by that cover of issue #12!”
This isn't the first time an Avenger has joined the Guardians lineup. While the current team features a very movie-inspired cast, previous writer Brian Michael Bendis included everyone from Iron Man to Captain Marvel to Kitty Pryde to The Thing in his Guardians of the Galaxy run.
Look for All-New Guardians of the Galaxy #12 to hit stores on October 18.
