Doom for Switch Cuts SnapMap Feature

Multiplayer will be available on launch as a free update.

Bethesda has announced that level editing tool SnapMap will not feature in the Switch port of Doom.

A representative of the company revealed to Engadget that the popular feature will be left out of the game when it comes to the Nintendo Switch later this year.

SnapMap allows players on the PC, PS4 and Xbox One versions of Doom to create custom maps and new gameplay experiences by editing the game logic. Maps can then be shared with players across the globe, and are available on every compatible platform.

Switch players will, therefore, miss out on the many user-generated maps and modes that expand the core experience of Doom.

Aside from this, the game will ship with all of the updates and DLC currently available on the alternative platforms.

It was also revealed that the multiplayer aspect of Doom for Switch will be missing from the physical cartridge due to size restraints.

Players who don't own the digital version from the Nintendo eShop will be required to download a free update on launch to get the full experience. The digital version will include all available content in one large download.

Doom for Switch was revealed earlier this week during the Nintendo Direct Livestream.

Bethesda used this time to announce another title coming to the Nintendo Switch,  Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus. The port will launch in 2018 after the games primary release this October 27 for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
