A direct sequel to Batman/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is coming in December.
According to DC Comics, the duo behind the original crossover, writer James Tynion IV and artist Freddie Williams II, are reuniting once again for the sequel, which is simply titled Batman/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II. It'll be published by DC Entertainment in partnership with IDW Publishing.
The story follows Donatello opening the portal to another reality hoping to summon Batman. However, the Ninja Turtle gets sent to Gotham City with the villainous Bane coming through the portal instead. Donatello must find a way to return to New York and enlist the help of Batman to put a stop to Bane.
“The original crossover between Batman and the Turtles was met with such positive enthusiasm from the fans, that it was only a matter of time before their paths crossed again,” said Greg Goldstein, IDW Publishing's President/COO.
Batman/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II will be a six-issue run, with the first two issues releasing via comic book retailers and digital outlets on December 6 and December 20, respectively. The rest of the issues will be released monthly.
Williams II will illustrate the main covers for all six issues with TMNT co-creator Kevin Eastman doing the variant covers.
