Ark: Survival Evolved only came out of Early Access and into full release just over a week ago, but it's already lining up an expansion, set to arrive sometime next month.
As reported over on VideoGamer, "Aberration", the latest expansion for the action-adventure survival game, features a damaged Ark which has lost its internal atmosphere. In an underground setting, the new content will see players battling radioactive sunlight and a new enemy in the form of the Nameless - a violent creature that appears to shy away from the light.
There's also the addition of 50 extra craftable items, ranging from hazmat suits to rail guns, for players who are looking for additional value from another expansion to the recently-launched game.
Expansions to the Ark main game have proven to be controversial; the game devs were forced to defend themselves when their decision to release the game's first paid expansion while it was still in Early Access caused a fan outcry. Whether fans will be kinder to a paid expansion releasing just over a month after the full game remains to be seen.
IGN recently reviewed Ark: Survival Evolved, although we had some issues with the grinding we were impressed with the game's "diversity of species"and it held our attention for longer than your average survival game.
Players who have purchased the Season Pass will receive the Aberration content for free; otherwise there's a $19.99 price tag. There's no exact release date as of yet, but the expansion is expected to arrive sometime in October.
