The majority of Gearbox is working on a game that's not necessarily - but is almost certainly - Borderlands 3.
Speaking at a PAX West panel (as reported by PCGamesN), Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford explained that 90% of Gearbox's development team is “working on the thing I think most of you guys want us to be working on.”
It seems pretty clear that that's a new Borderlands game - not least because Pitchford has previously shown off a tech test of the engine that will power the next game in the shoot 'n' loot series.
We've heard lots of little things about the potential Borderlands 3 (or whatever it ends up being called), although very little about the game itself. We know, for instance, that it probably won't come to Nintendo Switch, and that the Tales From the Borderlands team designed their characters so that they could put in an appearance in a new main series game.
There's no official word on when a new Borderlands game will arrive, or even when it will be announced.
That other 10% of the studio would seemingly be working on Gearbox's new 1v1 shooter, currently known only as Project 1v1, as well as its unannounced new VR game.
