While Marvel's Secret Empire crossover is just now getting underway, the company is also shining a spotlight on what's coming next. Secret Empire will pave the way for the publisher's latest big relaunch, one dubbed "Marvel Legacy." As the name suggests, Marvel Legacy will see the Avengers get back to basics and Marvel focus on its most iconic heroes and villains again.
The relaunch will officially begin with the release of Marvel Legacy #1 this fall. This one-shot will set the tone for the Marvel Universe going forward and feature the return of a major character.
Obviously, Marvel won't be revealing the identity of this mystery character. And with so many major characters either dead or out of commission currently, there's no shortage of candidates. We've put together a gallery breaking down all the heroes and villains who could be due for a big return this fall, from Hulk to Wolverine to the Fantastic Four. Bear in mind that Legacy could easily result in more than one Marvel character returning to life, so we won't limit our choices solely to the most obvious or popular characters.
Marvel hasn't revealed an exact start date for Legacy yet, but with Secret Empire looking like it'll wrap up in August, we'd guess the relaunch will being in early September. Marvel has also revealed that a number of currently ongoing series will revert to their original numbering when Legacy begins. Both new and old series will be offering fresh jumping-on points for readers.
In the meantime, check out our Secret Empire readers guide for more on what to expect from this summer's epic Avengers crossover.
