Injustice 2: How to Counter Deadshot

This page contains strategies and tips for fighting against Deadshot in Injustice 2.

The deadly assassin has become a particularly frustrating opponent for some players, as they have great difficulty avoiding his many projectile attacks that are highly effective at both long and short range.

As with most challenges in gaming, solving "the Deadshot problem" takes an even temper and patience above all else.

Because you the button for blocking and retreating are one and the same, you aren't able to move towards Deadshot while trying to block his incoming attacks, unless you're using a character with an armored charge attack like Bane.

To that end, you'll need to slowly advance across the play field, often very slowly, stopping to duck and block if Deadshot is spamming wrist cannon attacks. His response will likely be to dash backwards -- maybe throw in some trick shots, low rifle shots, or enhanced versions of any of his special moves -- but stay disciplined and keep inching forward until he eventually has nowhere to go.

Once you manage to close the distance between you and your opponent, use your most powerful combo attacks to take down as much health as possible before they can counter the assault.

Be prepared to block this wakeup reversal and hit them with your strongest combo to punish. Don’t get crazy just because you’re in close, though. Despite his huge advantages at a distance, Deadshot is still a formidable opponent up close. The big combo to look out for his his low shot, which then quickly transitions into an overhead, which he can then use to add some distance between you and even pepper on some extra damage with his projectiles.

One of the biggest things though is to never, ever, jump to close the distance. Unless you’re gorilla grodd and can jump full screen, or you’re using an interactable to close the distance, there’s just too much that can go wrong if you try to jump to get close. He could use a trick shot to hit you, he could enhance any of his projectiles to catch you coming down, or he could fire his single shot in the air.

This goes for jump attacks, as well, though if your opponent doesn't show signs of habitual anti-air strategies, this is less of a concern.

Your best bet for countering Deadshot's zone coverage is to play with a character who has a teleport attack.

This includes Swamp Thing, Darksied, Robin, and, most importantly in this case, Supergirl. Kara's teleport punch is faster than anyone else's teleport, and since her Kryptonian strength offers a bit of a damage boost, her combos are just as powerful as someone like Bane's.
