The story mode introduced in FIFA 17, The Journey, will make a return in FIFA 18 with a second season, Electronic Arts has confirmed.
During its Q3 2017 earnings call (transcribed by Seeking Alpha), EA CEO Andrew Wilson announced that "FIFA 18 will build on the foundation we created with story mode this year, bringing players back to The Journey with Season 2, featuring new characters and new storylines."

Wilson then went on to say that their studio is Vancouver is working to create "deeply innovative new experiences" with this year's release, and specifically mentioned Ultimate Team. According to the EA exec, the studio is striving to make this "the most emotionally immersive and connected FIFA" the publisher has ever released.
In addition to FIFA 18, Electronic Arts announced that a version of its popular sports franchise is also headed to Nintendo Switch "later this year." Details on the title will be revealed at a later date, but according to EA's Patrick Soderlund the game will provide an "experience custom built for Nintendo Switch."
