Star Wars Battlefront 2: Tiny Details You May Have Missed in the Story Trailer

From familiar planets to brands-new technology, here are some of the things we spotted in the latest Battlefront 2 trailer.

With barely a month left before Star Wars Battlefront 2’s release, EA just dropped a brand new trailer dedicated to the single player campaign -- it doesn’t reveal a whole lot, but that didn’t stop us from picking it apart, frame by frame. Let’s take a look!

CHECK OUT THE FULL TRAILER BELOW.

:06 -- This little droid is one of the specially modified ID10 seeker droids used by members of Inferno Squad for a variety of tasks -- in game, this will probably include hacking terminals and marking enemies.

:08 -- These droids are specially made for use by Inferno Squad. In the book they use them to hack and hide data while undercover. You’ll take direct control of it in the prologue mission, then use it to do tasks as Iden once they regroup. It can “slice” doors and boxes to open them, stun enemies, and release a pulse scan to mark enemies in a large area.

:13 -- This sequence is the prologue mission of the game, which you can read all about in our hands-on impressions of the opening few hours of Battlefront 2. Iden is intentionally captured by a Rebel ship so that she can delete an intercepted Imperial message that would expose the Empire’s trap at Endor. She deletes it then escapes out of the airlock.

:22 -- This planet is Vardos, Iden’s home planet and one of the brand new locations in Battlefront 2. It’s a gray, rainy planet with red trees and its citizens are very loyal to the empire.

:33 -- These are Iden’s two most trusted squad mates Giddeon on the right - played by Paul Blackthorne  - and Del on the left, played by T.J. Ramini.

:44 -- Here’s Garrick Versio, Iden’s father. They have a bit of an uneasy relationship. He’s the head of the Imperial Security Bureau or ISB. Think of them as the imperial CIA.

:47 -- And these are the exploded remnants of the second Death Star.

:54 -- Here we see the infiltration or invasion of a rebel outpost. There’s a destroyed X-wing to the right, and people clearly in rebel pilot and guard gear to the left.

:56 -- Here are the Tibanna gas mines, and that’s a Beldon floating off to the left. They’re sort of like space jellyfish.

1:01 -- This is a Rebel briefing room, with Twi’Lek, Duro, Sullustan, and Quarren races present. All of these species were in the previous Battlefront game as multiplayer skins and cosmetic unlocks.

1:06 -- Here are some kind of pint-sized super weapons, possibly Operation Cinder, AKA the weapon the Emperor’s recording mentions in the previous trailers.

1:09 -- This is an Imperial TIE chasing the Millennium Falcon over Maz Kanata’s castle on Takodana.

1:12 -- Here we see AT-ATs being deployed in Theed City on Naboo. We’ve seen AT-AT’s on tons of different Star Wars planets across every canonical movie and game but it’s still cool to see them here.

1:13 -- Here it looks like the Rebels are occupying Naboo, which makes sense, since it’s Palpatine’s home planet

1:14 -- This is an Imperial Gozanti Class Freighter dropping AT-ATs on ground.

1:16 -- Princess Leia on the prequels planet Naboo? Wouldn’t be the first time she’s been there. She takes a trip there during the book Leia Princess of Alderaan which takes place in the events leading up to the original Star Wars movie, A New Hope. Battlefront 2 takes places after Return of the Jedi so it’s pretty interesting to see her return.

1:17 -- This is our first look at Maz Kanata from Star Wars: The Force Awakens and our first confirmation that she’s in the game. Hopefully she’s not unlockable in multiplayer since her height and force sensitivity might make her a little tough to hit with blasters.

1:20 -- Here’s a look at the Fondor shipyards, the map that we saw in the Battlefront 2 beta. Fondor is basically famous for being a giant imperial shipyard that was previously used by the confederacy of systems during the clone wars.

1:25 -- And finally, the hand of Kylo Ren. Characters like Kylo and Luke will be playable throughout the campaign, so get ready to take on - and play as - all sides of this epic Star Wars battle.

And those are the secrets, easter eggs, and surprises we found in the new Star Wars: Battlefront 2 trailer. Notice something we didn’t catch? Let us know in the comments, and may the force be with you.
