WB Reportedly Planning for Ben Affleck's Exit From DCEU

No word on when his alleged departure will occur.

Ben Affleck's Batman may not be a part of the DCEU for much longer, as Warner Bros. is reportedly planning for the actor's exit from the DC film franchise.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, a knowledgable source told the outlet that Warner Bros. is working on a graceful way to transition Affleck's Caped Crusader out of the DCEU. This change in course will reportedly begin to take form in one of the studio's upcoming DC movies.

When Affleck's alleged departure from the DCEU will occur has not yet been decided. Warner Bros. Pictures Group chief Toby Emmerich told THR the studio wants to keep Affleck in the role."Ben is our Batman. We love him as Batman. We want to keep him in the cowl as long as we can," he said.

Additionally, Matt Reeves, who's on board to direct the next standalone Batman movie, confirmed Affleck will remain in the role for his film. The director also recently expressed interest in making a trilogy of Batman films.

Reeves isn't working with the previous script for The Batman, which was written by Geoff Johns and Ben Affleck. Instead, he plans to tell a new story, one that will be "very emotional" and feature a "Noir-driven, detective version of Batman."

Affleck will star as Batman in Justice League, which opens in theaters on November 17. For more on the DCEU's future, stay tuned to IGN this weekend, as Warner Bros. is holding a panel tomorrow at Comic-Con that will feature several of the studio's upcoming titles, including the aforementioned DC ensemble film.
