Stranger Things Season 2: Release Date and Poster Revealed

"Some doors can't be closed."

Netflix will release Stranger Things Season 2 on October 27, and has released a very pretty new poster to celebrate.

The last trailer for the new season announced a "Halloween" premiere date - it seems it meant the Halloween season, rather than the day itself:

Responding to a fan, Netflix explained the decision to release the series a few days earlier by saying "there will be [some] new Halloween costume inspiration".

The Stranger Things Twitter account also released a new teaser video for the show:

Stranger Things' second season follows on directly from the first, but adds several new characters, including a "kind-hearted former nerd" played by Samwise Gamgee himself, Sean Astin. Finding Nemo director Andrew Stanton will direct two episodes of the season, which is aiming to be "weirder and darker" than the last.

Joe Skrebels is IGN's UK News Editor, and he is morally obliged to write "Hallowe'en" with the apostrophe at least once in any story that mentions it. It just looks cooler. Follow him on Twitter.
