The Battlefront 2 beta will show off a map each from two modes, Galactic Assault and Starfighter Assault, and will run from October 6-9 (or 4-9 if you've pre-ordered).
Galactic Assault will take place on the Naboo map we've seen shown off previously - a ground battle between the the Republic's clones and Separatist droids, set in the city of Theed. The mode will feature four classes to try out - Assault Troopers, Heavy Troopers, Officers (who buff teammates and drop remote weapons) and Specialist (who snipe and plant traps). It will also include prequel-era vehicles and will include some as-yet-unspecified named Heroes.
EA offered less on what the Starfighter Assault will include. However, it will be a multiplayer space combat battle set during the original trilogy era "piloting an assortment of Star Wars’ greatest ships in an objective-based, multi-stage battle."
EA promises to show off more about starfighting at Gamescom in August.
We've been impressed by what we've played of multiplayer so far - and that's primarily down to those classes we were talking about.
