The New York you'll be swinging through in the upcoming PS4 Spider-Man game will be a big one - "several times larger" than Insomniac's last open world, Sunset City (the setting for Sunset Overdrive).
The developer made the comparison on Twitter, after a fan asked them to compare it to the size of The Witcher 3:
That's not a comparison we can really make. It's several times larger than Sunset City was tho

Sunset Overdrive wasn't small, either - the company said the Xbox One exclusive was "the biggest game we've ever made".
It might simply be a matter of practicality - while Sunset Overdrive featured some speedy traversal, Spider-Man's webslinging looks a great deal faster in the footage we've seen so far. Being able to reach the other end of the map in mere minutes wouldn't feel particularly satisfying.
At one point, it wasn't entirely clear whether the game even would feature an open world, although a behind-closed-doors presentation at E3 confirmed that it will, with sequences such as the one in the video above included as major missions.
Spider-Man will be released exclusively for PS4 in 2018, and will feature both Peter Parker and Miles Morales.
