PS Plus Lineup Revealed for August 2017

Assassin's Creed: Freedom Cry, Downwell, and more are free to PS Plus subscribers in August.

August's list of free PlayStation Plus free games has been revealed, with Just Cause 3 and Assassin’s Creed: Freedom Cry headlining the list.

Check out the full list of free games, along with what platforms they are available on, below:

  • Just Cause 3 (PS4)
  • Assassin’s Creed: Freedom Cry (PS4)
  • Super Motherload (PS3)
  • Snakeball (PS3)
  • Downwell (PlayStation Vita with PS4 crossbuy)
  • Level 22 (PS Vita)

Just Cause 3 was first released in 2015, and at the time of its release, IGN's Just Cause 3 review of the latest entry in Square Enix's open-world action series said the game was riddled with "so many performance problems and punishing load times."

Assassin’s Creed: Freedom Cry is a standalone adventure set after the events of Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag. IGN's review gave Freedom Cry a 7.0, saying it "tells a great, emotional story in the shell of classic AC gameplay."

Super Motherload originally released in 2013 as a launch title for the PS4. IGN gave Super Motherload a 6.0, explaining that it's "a serviceable arcade game that provides its own share of fun, but it’s also repetitive."

Snakeball scored an 8.0 from IGN back in 2007 because of its "impressive gameplay modes, leaderboards and an ultra slick presentation."

Downwell is a roguelike action platformer where players have to descend down a well and survive as long as they can by shooting enemies with the playable character's gun boots. Level 22 is a top-down stealth game that follows Gary who, after a drunken night, has to sneakily make his way up all 22 floors of a building to his office.

There are still a few days to grab June's free PS Plus games, which include Life Is Strange and Killing Floor 2.
