PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds: Final Release Delayed

But it will be here by the end of the year.

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds will not hit its final release in the window its developer had hoped. A 1.0 version was originally scheduled for within six months of its Early Access launch, but the full game is still scheduled to arrive by the end of this year.

Speaking on the game's Steam page, Brendan "PlayerUnknown" Greene said:

"Over the past few months I have done a lot of interviews, and in many of them, I said we hoped to be out of Early Access six months after we first launched. I’ve come to realize that restricting the window to a specific month could hinder us from delivering a fully featured game and/or lead to disappointment within the community if the launch deadline is not met.

"So, we have decided that we are going push the full launch back a bit from the initial six-month timeframe, but want to assure you that we are still planning a full release before the end of Q4 2017."

Greene also explained that the game would push regular updates until its full launch.

That will possibly include the game's second map, set in a desert city. We may also see the release of the game on Xbox One before its final version, given Microsoft's Game Preview program.
