From our Preview: The end of the world is at hand in the survival game Fortnite, or least it is whenever I want it to be. For now, I'm content to let it wait. I've spent the last hour hacking at rocks, trees, and the occasional file cabinet with a pickaxe, because right now I'm more interested in building a building-sized replica of a Minecraft creeper than staving off the apocalypse. It's not entirely for show; I've also reinforced the bottom walls with wall-darts, spike traps, and gizmos on ceilings that zap anything that walks beneath. You see, all I need to do is press a button to make a horde of zombies rush my creeper, and for around five minutes they'll try to smash down its walls and destroy the storm shield keeping our little compound safe from within.

From our Review: At this point, you’ve probably heard about Dreamworks Animation’s latest comedy, The Boss Baby, which, as its title entails, focuses on a seemingly innocent newborn who’s secretly a business savvy worker in a corporation in Heaven. Fortunately, said baby happens to be voiced by Alec Baldwin, in an admittedly funny, spot on bit of casting. But if the film’s promotional materials and trailers had made it seem like The Boss Baby may merely just be riding on the short-lived amusement of that one gag, then you probably won’t be surprised to know that it’s exactly that.

- See it on Amazon for $19.99 (Blu-ray)
From our Review: There's a lot that Ghost in the Shell could have done wrong to mess up this live-action adaptation of a beloved franchise. While there are still plenty of conversations to be had about the casting controversy surrounding the movie, Rupert Sanders' film is respectful and successful as an adaptation that strives to capture the same intellectual conversation about identity, ownership and consent that are presented in the source material.
Release Date: Tuesday, July 25, 2017
- See it on Amazon for $17.99 (Blu-ray)
From our 2000 DVD Review: The Batman animated series are, without doubt, the greatest superhero cartoons ever produced. The Superman and Batman Beyond series are also pretty good, but nothing can compare to the original stuff. So just what made the series so great? Well, a little bit of everything I guess. For starters, the animation was top-notch. Sure, the art style took a little getting used to at first, but once you got used to it, it was really quite elegant looking. That and the simplistic art meant that it was easier to keep up the animation rate throughout the entire episode (As opposed to, oh say Spider-Man, where the animation would drop to a staggering 4 frames a second on some episodes, and remain exceptionally cheap looking unless it was a fight scene).
