The Nintendo Switch Online app will be released for smartphones on July 21, Nintendo has announced.
When the app launches, players will have access to a Splatoon-focused service called SplatNet 2, which allows players to connect with Inkopolis when they're away from their Switch. For a look at the service, which was shown during today's Splatoon 2 Direct, check out the gallery below:
In addition to stage schedules, SplatNet 2 will display information like player stats and gear, as well as a player's Lifetime Inkage, which compares the amount of turf a player has covered in ink to locations in the real world.
Additionally, with the Nintendo Switch Online app, players can invite others though messaging services and social networks to join events for the new Salmon Run co-op mode, as well as Private, League and Splatfest Battles. The app will also allow you to communicate with others using voice chat.
Splatoon 2 releases for Nintendo Switch on July 21, the same day the online app goes live. A Splatoon 2-themed Switch Pro Controller will be available on launch day as well.
