New Pokemon Movie Retells Ash's First Adventure

Meet Ash's two new companions.

Pokemon the Movie: I Choose You! strays from the original series by replacing Ash's companions with two entirely new characters.

As reported by Kotaku, Ash is not accompanied by Brock and Misty during his adventures in the upcoming 20th Pokemon film, which recounts Ash's earliest adventures in the anime. Instead, according to the movie's official site, he's joined by Souji:

And Makoto:

Brock and Misty are not included among the list of main characters on the film's official site, and, as noted by Pokemon Matome, the movie retells Ash's heartbreaking goodbye scene with Butterfree, with Brock and Misty written out.

It's worth noting, however, that Misty and Brock, as well as several other friends of Ash, make an appearance during the end credits.

According to Twitter user Alex Aniel (via PokeBeach), the closing credits include Brock and Misty, as well as Tracey, May, Max, Dawn, Iris, Cilan, Serena, Clemont and Bonnie. Team Rocket is also said to be featured in the film, but the trouble-causing crew only interacts with the core cast in a small capacity.
