Gears of War developer The Coalition has announced a new series of comics based on its third-person shooter series is coming next year.
In a post on the official Gears of War website, the studio announced it's partnering with IDW Publishing and writer Kurtis Wiebe (Rat Queens) on the new comic book series.
The series will debut in January 2018 with the release of Gears of War #1.
"With the release of Gears of War 4, fans experienced all the classic callbacks to the brutal, over-the-top action and tone they were used to but there was a new dynamic created with the younger generation of heroes in JD, Kait, and Del. That's the same experience I want for the comic readers," Wiebe said. "Something that feels familiar but fresh through new, as-of-yet unexplored regions and stories of the Gears of War universe."
Additionally, it was announced that IDW Publishing will rerelease the classic library of Gears of War comics.
