Infinity War Trailer Shows Spider-Man's Spidey Sense

Infinity War hits theaters on May 4, 2018.

The first teaser trailer for Avengers: Infinity War closed out D23 Expo's live action Disney films panel, and while it remains unclear when and if Marvel will release the Infinity War trailer to the public, there were some very exciting reveals in it -- beyond, you know, the Thanos of it all.

Consider this a spoiler warning if you want to go in completely clean, but as this is a trailer, we will report on it as news.

The release of Spider-Man: Homecoming had many fans questioning whether the Spidey Sense exists in the MCU, and while Kevin Feige has addressed that question already, the Infinity War trailer seems to have put it to rest with one very quick scene.

After we see how the Guardians of the Galaxy meet the Avengers for the first time, the trailer cuts down to Earth as Mantis explains how Loki is a threat: we hear her say "death follows him like a shadow." Cut to a close-up shot of the hair on Peter Parker's arm rising, then pulling back to show him looking up concerned while riding a train. That very intentional hair-raising scene seems to be our first clear look at Peter's Spidey Sense in action. Oh, and he has a super cool new suit.

While Peter Parker has seemed to have some sort of preternatural abilities in Captain America: Civil War and in Homecoming, the fact that he relies heavily on his technologically advanced Spidey suit from Tony Stark has caused many to wonder whether he actually would be using his special senses in the way Spider-Man has in the comics and other films.

IGN spoke to Feige recently while he was promoting Homecoming, and he told us he believes Peter has the Spidey Sense. "And I think he has it with or without that suit," he said. "I think how we explore it in a cinematic sense will change. I mean, that was sort of a big showy part of previous versions and we thought that we'd make it more of an internal, sort of second nature thing for him."

Feige continued, "But there are ways coming up that will slowly hint at that and also just make it part of his, you know, his natural abilities. But we don't know that if it will be -- I think we'll explore it further down the line, but [it's] definitely him not the suit."

Of course, that doesn't explain why Peter let both Ned and you-know-who catch him wearing his suit... though maybe his Spidey Sense is still developing.

We will post the trailer as soon as it becomes available, but in the meantime, stay tuned for our full panel writeup.
