One of the more dramatic moments in Civil War II came when Miles Morales was given a vision of his future, a future where he seemingly killed Captain America on the steps of the US Capitol. But what once seemed like an impossible turn of events has become much more likely with the advent of Secret Empire and Cap's betrayal of his fellow Avengers.

This issue saw Miles and Black Widow travel to Washington with the intent of assassinating Steve Rogers and cutting off Hydra's most important head. Even though Miles seemed to accept his destiny as Cap's murderer, Widow chose to lock him in a Hulk-proof container van rather than allow him to compromise his heroic ideals. However, Miles eventually escaped and confronted Cap anyway. And when Widow intervened in their fight, she was inadvertently killed by a blow from Cap's shield.

That death seemed to be the final spark Miles needed to push him over the edge and kill Steve Rogers. Luckily, Wasp convinced Miles to show mercy, leaving Cap free to terrorize the planet for another day and proving that the future can be rewritten the the Marvel Universe.

Things are looking pretty bleak for both sides of the Secret Empire conflict right now. But there is a light on the horizon, as this issue ended with Sam Wilson once again donning his Captain America costume and rallying the scattered Avengers to his side.
