Square Enix has revealed the first details of Final Fantasy XV's upcoming multiplayer mode, Comrades, and announced a beta test running from August 3-8.
Comrades will allow players to create their own custom character, then join up to three other players and take on multiplayer quests. Players will be able to create multiple characters, developed by completing quests, and customised with new clothing and items at the game's Outposts.
Characters will be able to use a series of different weapons such as katanas, crossbows, shuriken, and shields, all with new moves. At a later date, the final version will also unlock the game's main characters, Noctis, Gladio, Ignis and Prompto. It's still not entirely clear whether Comrades takes place in a new area, or the existing open world.
You can see all the available details on the Comrades website. The first screenshots are below:
The Comrades 'closed online test' will only be accessible by players who own the FFXV Season Pass, and have an active PlayStation Plus or Xbox Live Gold subscription.
Running from August 3-8 globally, it appears to offer a stripped down version of the main expansion, including creating an avatar, taking part in multi-part quests, and using some new features and weaponry.
The exact release date of the final version is still to be confirmed.
Before we get to Comrades, however, we still have the matter of Ignis' Episode DLC to get to, not to mention the VR fishing spin-off, Monster of the Deep.
