The previously unreleased Stormy Ascent level from the first Crash game is now available as free DLC for the Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy.
According to PlayStation Blog, the extra level will be free via the PlayStation Store through August 19.
Stormy Ascent was designed by Naughty Dog but ultimately cut from the original Crash Bandicoot because of its extremely high difficulty. Previously, players could only access the hidden level on the original PlayStation 1 Crash disc by using GameShark.
Stormy Ascent looks most similar to Slippery Climb, as both levels use the same assets and have Crash slowly ascend Doctor Neo Cortex's gloomy fortress later in the story. However, Stormy Ascent is reportedly four times larger than any other level in Crash Bandicoot, and is said to be one of the most difficult levels in the entire N. Sane Trilogy.
