Suicide Squad's Jared Leto is reportedly in talks to star in Sony's film adaptation of the Valiant comic book, Bloodshot.
Deadline reports Leto is in negotiations to play the main lead in the film Angelo Mortalli, a ruthless killer for the mob who's eventually enhanced with nanotechnology that turns him into the super-soldier known as Bloodshot.
The character was created by Kevin Van Hook, Don Perlin, and Bob Layton in 1992. A few of the other actors Sony reportedly wanted to lead the film were Oscar Isaac, Mark Wahlberg, and Jake Gyllenhaal.
Dave Wilson will helm the film adaptation from a script by Arrival screenwriter Eric Heisserer. Fast & Furious series producer Neal Moritz, Valiant's Dinesh Shamdasani, and Toby Jaffe are all producing.
Bloodshot will serve as the first entry in a series shared universe of films based on Valiant's comics. No release date has been set yet.
It will be followed by a film based on Harbinger, also written by Heisserer, which centers around a group of teens on the run who have superpowers.
