Amazon Prime Day 2017 has officially been announced for July 11, but the sale will actually start on July 10 6pm PST (9pm EST). The past two Prime Days have shown that this is the biggest sale of the year outside of Black Friday. In fact, Prime Day tends to be even more frenzied that Black Friday itself, because there is only a single day to capitalize on all the deals.
If you don't come prepared, you're going to be overwhelmed. Amazon has a Prime Day landing page, but it will only show a tiny fraction of all the ongoing deals. You might also think that the deals themselves are all that you can save, but that's usually not the case. There are ways to save even more money on top of these deal prices. There will also be exclusive deals that will only be available through select channels. If you study up beforehand, you'll be able to take advantage of both.
You have to pay to play. If you're a seasoned Amazon shopper, the $99/yr fee is well worth the many perks of Amazon Prime. If you don't shop often at Amazon, or don't find the benefits compelling, there are some ways you might be able to sign up for Prime without sacrificing a Benjamin.
- If you've never signed up for Amazon Prime, you're eligible for a free 30-day trial membership. Make sure to cancel before your 30 days are up.
- If you're a student and you've never signed up, you're eligible for a free 6-month trial. Even if you already used up the trial, the student savings is incredible - 50% off Prime membership, or $49 per year.
- If you're not a student and you've already used up a trial, Amazon offers 1 month of Prime for only $10.99. This is easily the best solution if all you want to do is participate in Prime Day without any commitment. You could recoup the cost from a single Prime Day purchase.
Sign up for 1 month of Amazon Prime for $10.99 and get access to Prime Video. Stream your first Prime video on your TV and get a $10 Amazon credit that you are guaranteed to receive by Prime Day.
Follow these directions:
Note that the credit won't show on your account but it will automatically apply to a Prime Day transaction. You'll be able to see it on your invoice.
"Amazon Prime Now" offers 2-HOUR Delivery and up to $20 Cashback
The Amazon Prime Now service, exclusive to Prime members, offers same-day delivery on select items in Amazon's store. As part of Prime Day's promotions, get $10 off your first Prime Now order placed by July 11 by entering code "10PRIMEDAY" during checkout. You'll also automatically get $10 your NEXT Prime Now order that's placed between July 13-31.

Stream your first Prime video on your TV and get a $10 Amazon credit. I mentioned this earlier as a means to get your 1-month Prime membership for $1, but anyone who already has Prime and has never streamed a Prime video can take advantage of this deal.

Follow me at @IGNDeals. A huge portion of the Prime Day deals will be "Lightning Deals" that will last for 3 hours or less. I'll pick out all of the best values and interesting products and tweet them as fast as I can!
I update the Daily Deals article every day, and there's no question that Prime Day will be reserved for the absolute best Amazon deals. More specifically, instead of the posting super short-lived deals, I'll find the best core Amazon deals that will last at least a few hours.
Work you do now is time saved later. By setting up your 1-click ordering beforehand, you eliminate the entire checkout process. If you're worried about storing personal information online, deactivate it afterwards. 1-click ordering does NOT work on Lightning Deals.
Adding money to your Amazon gift balance (or to gift cards) is really just moving cash between accounts. It's nice that doing so gets you free money. Click through to see if you are eligible for these offers.
If you own an Amazon Echo, Echo Dot, Amazon Tap, Fire TV, or Fire Tablet device, ask your device "Alexa, what are your deals", and Alexa will spit out unique deals that can't be found anywhere else. Amazon has confirmed that there will be quite a few Alexa-exclusive deals on Prime Day.
Alexa's first big deal has already kicked off. Make your first Alexa order and you'll get a bonus $10 Amazon credit. Credit expires in 2018.
The Amazon Visa Card normally gives you 3% cashback on all Amazon purchases. If you have an Amazon Prime Membership, the cashback gets bumped up to 5%. Getting an extra 5% off every single purchase on Amazon is pretty outstanding, especially considering this card has zero annual fees.
You also get a $70 Amazon Credit when you first sign up.
Amazon likes to confuse everyone by offering two different cards. The Visa card mentioned above can be used anywhere that accepts Visa. The Amazon Prime Store Card, on the other hand can ONLY be used on Amazon and is only for Amazon Prime members. The tradeoff? You get the same 5% cashback, plus Amazon has already stated that several categories will get an additional 15% cashback on Prime Day for a total savings of 20% cashback.
You also get a $10 Amazon Credit when you first sign up.
One of the biggest perks for Amazon Prime members is the free 2-day shipping. But do you need 2-day shipping for every purchase? If instead you choose "Free Standard Shipping" Amazon will give you $1-$5 worth of Amazon credits good for digital goods (like games and software), Prime Pantry, music, eBooks, and more.
