Nintendo of America president Reggie Fil-Aimé revealed why Animal Crossing Mobile was left out of E3, as well as why Nintendo shut down AM2R, and more on what's coming for Nintendo Switch.
When interviewed by Waypoint, the Nintendo Boss confirmed Nintendo's intentions when going into this year's E3 Spotlight, saying Nintendo felt fans "wanted to understand more about Nintendo Switch and the Nintendo Switch proposition."
He also cited this as the reason games such as Animal Crossing Mobile were not present at the conference saying that "When it comes to mobile, we are just not sure if E3 is the place for us to be talking about mobile."
Those eagerly awaiting Animal Crossing's debut on the mobile platform shouldn't be worried despite delays, as Reggie confirmed "It's an application that is going to launch this year, as we've committed," promising more information in time.
When questioned about the rationale behind shutting down fan-made Metroid 2 reimagining, despite it being free to download and in the wake of Nintendo's own Metroid: Samus Returns coming to 3DS, he cited control of IP as the mitigating factor.
As for the future of Switch games, The Nintendo America head talked about the potential for more Wii U ports to the system from both first and third-party developers.
Additionally, there was talk of more indie titles not featured at Nintendo's show.
"We've made it a priority to showcase that content," at events like PAX, he explained.
Nintendo's E3 showcase featured a mix of surprise announcements as well as in-depth looks at games we were already anticipating and you can catch them all in our Spotlight Wrap-up.
