A new six-issue comic book series, Kingsman: The Red Diamond has been announced, and will serve as a sequel to the miniseries that inspired the Kingsman film.
As reported by EW, The Red Diamond will not see original comic team Mark Millar and Dave Gibbons return, however. They're replaced by Rob Williams and Simon Fraser, who worked together previously on Doctor Who comics.
The first issue of The Red Diamond will be released on September 6 by Image Comics, preceded by a reprint of original series, The Secret Service (now rebranded Kingsman: The Secret Service, in line with the film).
Not much has been revealed of the plot, although we know that we're getting a new megalomaniacal villain, with an ocean base and a hunchbacked henchman.
"When we meet [lead character] Eggsy here, everything seems great," explained writer Rob Williams. "He’s the debonair secret agent, he’s dating a beautiful woman, he’s got an amazing car, it seems like he’s got it made. The journey for him is learning that you can’t leave your past behind [...] I think he’s adrift at the start of this story, and he has to find himself again."
EW also has a series of covers for issue one of the series, which you can see alongside a full interview with the new creative team.
Shortly after The Red Diamond releases, the movie version of Kingsman will get its own sequel, The Golden Circle on September 29. It looks to be taking its own path with the story - here's everything we learned from a 15-second teaser (it's more than you'd think).
