Halt and Catch Fire: "The Way In" Review


Spoilers for "The Way In" below.

This week’s episode of Halt and Catch Fire took one big step forward, plot-wise, moving our main players in a closer proximity to one another than they’ve been since Season 1. Even better, “The Way In” appears to hint at a larger arc for the season as a whole.

Gordon and Donna heading to Joe and Sara’s place for dinner was the definite centerpiece of the episode despite it more or less being a B-plot. The ambiguity of Joe’s drastic change in character has been a driving point of this season so far, though some would argue that it’s so drastic he hardly resembles the Joe we knew and enjoyed in Season 1. “The Way In” proves that that is the point. Sara calling out Joe when he starts backsliding into materialism and excuses was a small but important moment that shed light on Joe’s entire persona.
