Walking Dead: How Rick's Attack Compares to the Comics

"What are you up to, Rick?"

The Walking Dead's Season 8 premiere, "Mercy" (which was also the 100th episode of the series), was overflowing with intense action as Rick coordinated a multi-pronged attack on Negan and the Saviors. This plan was also a major part of the comics story arc of "All Out War," some of which we've already seen back in the Season 7 finale and Sasha's transformation. Set-pieces have been shifted around a bit, for the sake of the TV series, but Rick's assault on the Sanctuary remains mostly the same.

Full spoilers for The Waking Dead continue below.

Due to the graphic nature of both The Walking Dead comics and TV show, the slideshow below contains strong language, gore and violence.

So there you have it. The season premiere's battle-side-by side with how it played out in the comics. And there's still more to go since the TV show sort of left a few satellite battles in limbo. As mentioned above, Sasha's death and transformation on the show, which happened last season, happens after this opening attack in the comics - and with a different character. "Mercy" left us with a few scenarios that didn't happen in the comics (Negan and Gabriel, Carol in the dust cloud, etc) so we'll have to see how everything plays out.
