Star Wars: The Real Reason Why Kylo Ren Wears a Mask

Not just an homage to Darth Vader.

Lucasfilm's Star Wars: The Last Jedi exhibition at New York Comic Con contains some interesting information about Kylo Ren, revealing the true reason Adam Driver's character conceals his face with a mask.

As reported by Star Wars News Net, a variety of props, including Kylo Ren's helmet, were on display and each accompanied by an information panel. According to the description for Ren's helmet, the mask isn't just an homage to Darth Vader, but was instead designed to hide his true identity.

The official description accompanying the helmet reads:

Kylo Ren is the son of Han Solo and Leia Organa, protege of Luke Skywalker, and eventual master of the knights of Ren. He is known as the "Jedi Killer" among the rank and file of the First Order. His helmet was crafted to mask his visage and voice, concealing his identity as he delves further into the power of the dark side of the Force.
