New Social Features Coming to Blizzard's Battle.net

Give the gift of Blizzard.

Blizzard announced a slew of new social features coming to Battle.net including groups, avatars, profiles, and more.

Among the new improvements is player-to-player gifting. The shop tab allows you to "select a gifting-enabled item such as Hearthstone card packs" and choose who you'd like to send it to.

When someone sends you a gift, "the upper right of the app" lights up, letting you know someone thinks you're special.

Also coming to Battle.net are groups, helping you find and interact with like-minded users, as well new profiles and avatars. All of the social features are found in the new Social tab of the Blizzard.net app.

Blizzard is also letting you "appear offline" with the new update. As the name suggests, you merely appear offline, while in actuality, you're playing Blizzard games in quiet desolation.

Profiles can be hidden from the public, if you prefer, and can let players "share what’s on your mind with an About message," as well as show off social media links, recent games "and more."

The updates to Battle.net come just in time for the PC release of Destiny 2. Unlike the original Destiny, the sequel is available on PC, with Destiny 2 only accessible through Battle.net.
