Destiny 2 Servers Down for Maintenance

The window of downtime is expected to be four hours total.

If you're hoping to get in some Destiny 2 time today, you'll need to wait until later today, as the servers are currently undergoing maintenance.

The server maintenance is expected to last around 4 hours, according to Bungie. The maintenance period is scheduled to end at 12 Pacific Time, or 3 pm ET/8 pm GMT/6 am ACT.

Bungie didn't give a reason for the maintenance, but offers a generic explanation on the help page, saying Destiny servers will sometimes undergo "scheduled or emergency maintenance,"  or add updates "to address gameplay issues or add in-game features."

The Bungie Help Twitter account warned of today's downtime beginning yesterday.

The current status on the help page confirms Destiny is down at the moment, and recommends following BungieHelp on Twitter for updates.

In June, Bungie announced it had no further plans for the original Destiny, saying its "sole focus" was on the then-unreleased Destiny 2. At the start of October, Xbox One and Xbox 360 Destiny players gained access to all content previously exclusive to the PlayStation platform.

The PC version of Destiny 2 releases October 24, and last week Bungie outlined the Destiny 2 minimum and recommended PC specs.
