Star Wars: Darth Vader #1 - $4.99
STL047529

By writer Charles Soule & artist Giuseppe Camuncoli | Marvel

Marvel's newest ongoing Star Wars comic again puts the Dark Lord of the Sith in the spotlight. That might not seem like the most groundbreaking direction for the franchise so soon after Kieron Gillen and Salvador Larroca's Darth Vader comic wrapped up, but the fact is that there's plenty more ground left to cover with this villain. The new series is set shortly after the events of Episode III, meaning we're getting a closer look at how Anakin Skywalker evolved from fallen Jedi Knight to scourge of the galaxy. The first story arc will explore how Vader forged his signature red lightsaber, and we're hoping the series will also explore the inner workings of Vader's castle introduced in Rogue One last year.

It helps that Vader has such a strong creative team chronicling this period of his life. Charles Soule is a true Star Wars veteran at this point, between his work on Star Wars: Lando, Star Wars: Poe Dameron and Star Wars: Anakin & Obi-Wan. And Giuseppe Camuncoli has been crucial in shaping Amazing Spider-man into the consistent best-seller it is today. As far as we're concerned, Spdiey's loss is Darth Vader's gain.

Babyteeth #1 - $3.99
STL045191

By writer Donny Cates & artist Garry Brown | AfterShock

We've been big fans of writer Donny Cates' work on Image Comics titles like God Country and Redneck. Now Cates is making his way over to AfterShock for a very promising team-up with Iron Patriot and Catwoman artist Garry Brown. Billed as "Buffy the Vampire Slayer meets Rosemary's Baby," Babyteeth is story of a desperate and very pregnant teen who discovers she's about to give birth to the Antichrist. Surely that'll work out well...

The Dark Knight III: The Master Race #9 - $5.99
STL043902

By writers Frank MIller & Brian Azzarello & artists Andy Kubert & Frank Miller | DC

This Dark Knight Returns sequel has taken longer than expected to wrap up, thanks both to shipping delays and the decision to expand the story by an extra issue. But that's all behind us now, as the final chapter of The Dark Knight III hits the stands. The time has come for one last, epic showdown between Quar's Kryptonian army and Earth's heroes, with Lara caught right in the middle. More than anything, we're eager to see how this issue builds on recent plot twists and how it might set the stage for the Dark Knight IV series Frank Miller has been teasing.

Iceman #1 - $3.99
STL047361

By writer Sina Grace & artist Alessandro Vitti | Marvel

Marvel isn't quite finished adding new books to the X-Men lineup. It's been a long time since Iceman has had a comic to call his own. That's especially surprising given everything that's happened to the character in recent years and the revelation about his homosexuality. The time has never been better for a solo comic that puts Bobby Drake in the spotlight and explores his place among the X-Men and the larger Marvel Universe. The fact that the series is written by Burn the Orphanage co-creator Sina Grace is just icing on the cake.

The Walking Dead #168 - $2.99
STL047163

By writer Robert Kirkman & artist Charlie Adlard | Image

The previous issue of The Walking Dead was a real game-change for the series, probably the most significant since the events of "All Out War" several years ago. So now the question is how Rick Grimes and his fellow survivors move forward from their most recent strong of tragedies. Is there still hope for human civilization, or have The Whisperers left Alexandria and the Hilltop permanently divided? Needless to say, Robert Kirkman and Charlie Adlard have a lot of ground to cover as they launch into their latest story arc.
