Project Scorpio - Road to E3 2017

What does Microsoft need to do at E3 to prove that Scorpio is the real deal?

It's that time of year again: E3 2017 is just on the horizon. From June 10-15, we'll be covering the biggest games and hardware announcements of 2017 and beyond. While you can check out our continually-updated Games of E3 List, we're now going to start diving deeper.

Every day leading up to the show, we'll be highlight the stuff we want to see and play at E3 2017. Today's game...well, it isn't a game. It's: Project Scorpio.

When Did We Last See Project Scorpio?

Technically, we've never seen it. We don't have its official name and we don't yet know what the box looks like (though we do know what the dev kit looks like). But we do know its specs, and we know that it's part of the Xbox One family -- not a generational successor. That means every Xbox One game will work on Scorpio.

Why We're Excited For Project Scorpio

Scorpio has brought out a confidence we haven't seen in Microsoft in years now, so they're clearly pumped up about what they're about to show off. That, in turn, gets us fired up too. 4K TV owners will get the most out of the new console, but Microsoft promises plenty of benefits for folks with 1080p sets as well. We expect to learn the price and release date of the machine during E3 as well as seeing what it's capable of.

Will Project Scorpio Be at E3 2017?

Most definitely, yes! Microsoft's been building up to this reveal for quite some time, dishing out specs reasserting their push that this will be the "most powerful console ever." Microsoft's E3 press briefing on Sunday, June 11 is when they'll finally show us all exactly what they mean by that.
