Patty Jenkins Not Yet Signed on to Direct Wonder Woman 2

Negations for Jenkins to return for the sequel will reportedly begin soon.

Contrary to previous reports, Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins has not signed on to direct a sequel.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jenkins only had a one-picture deal since this was her first time directing a big-budget studio film, which is a standard practice at Warner Bros. Meanwhile, Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot has an option line up for sequel as part of her contract to star is multiple DC movies.

Negotiations between Jenkins and Warner Bros. are reportedly scheduled to begin in the near future, with Jenkins having more leverage due to Wonder Woman's critical and box office success. The director may not only return to helm Wonder Woman 2, but also sign a deal to work with DC Entertainment president and chief creative officer Geoff Johns to write the script for the sequel and potentially other films as well.

In the event that Warner Bros. greenlights Wonder Woman 2, the sequel will reportedly have a contemporary setting. For our thoughts on Wonder Woman, which grossed over $100 million in its domestic debut, read IGN's review.  Also be sure to check out our five biggest questions from the film and the 13 characters we want to see in Wonder Woman 2.
